"Dr. Dagnew is an excellent doctor and surgeon. I made the distinction to separate the two because too often surgeons have a reputation for being cold, arrogant, and unfeeling towards their patients. This was not the case with Dr. Dagnew.

On first meeting him, he not only sat down with me and realistically told me I needed surgery fairly soon (I had a substantially herniated disc in my lower back), but was willing to discuss continued alternative treatments if that was my wish. No pressure just facts. He did so in a patient, understanding manner that is challenging to find in physicians and surgeons today. He spent a great deal of time actually talking with me about what surgical alternatives were available and exactly what the surgery and recovery time would entail. His staff was also fantastic. They were courteous and friendly to all those who came through Ga Brain and Spine doors.

When it came time for surgery, the surgical team at Emory Johns Creek Hospital were lovely, doing everything possible to ensure I was comfortable. My family were amazed that while other surgeons were just giving quick update to family members in the surgical waiting room, Dr. Dagnew took the time to take them aside and explain my recovery and surgical details.

My recovery time was almost exactly what Dr. Dagnew explained it would be following my surgery. As I write this, it has been 6 months since my surgery and I feel amazing. After 6 years of chronic pain, muscle relaxants, prescription pain pills, steroids, and physical therapy, just the fact that I can bend over to tie my shoes again is a miracle to me. So if you ask me if I recommend Dr. Dagnew and his qualified, friendly staff, my answer is “How could I not?”"
