He is also past President of both the Georgia Neurosurgical Society and the Dekalb Medical Society.
The primary focus of Dr. Hartman's practice is the evaluation and management of spinal diseases, as well as treatment of head injury. Conservative therapy and minimally invasive procedures have always been the first choice as treatments for his patients. The conditions that he most commonly sees include disc herniation, spinal stenosis, pinched nerves, degenerative disease of the spine, cervical and lumbar trauma, and concussion.
Most recently, Dr. Hartman has focused his practice on minimally invasive image guided interventional pain management. The unique to the practice procedures he performs include cervical and lumbar facet blocks, epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, and selective nerve root injections.
With his years of expertise, he endeavors to treat each patient as an individual. That process begins by making the most accurate initial diagnostic evaluation, one that always attempts to identify the root cause of the problem. He then will offer a full complement of treatment options based on that patient's unique diagnosis. His care always emphasizes a compassionate, common sense approach to the complex and sometimes scary issues involving injuries to and diseases of the brain and spine. The most common advise he gives to patients is: 'surgery is the last resort.'
He is a member of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Southern Neurosurgical Society, and the Georgia Neurosurgical Society.
Dr. Hartman enjoys time with his wife and five children. When not with his family or patients, he generously volunteers his time to his children's schools, as well as at several nonprofit organizations in the Atlanta community.
